We are constantly bombarded with new diet fads that promise the latest quick fix to lose fat or increase performance. Ignore the hype, focus on the basics:
1) Meats and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, NO SUGAR
-shop on the outside aisles of a grocery store
-stay away from processed food (if it has a label, you should consider not eating it)
2) If you want to lose fat, are eating too much?
-eat a little less at each meal but do not starve yourself
3) Eat protein at every meal
-protein will help you recover from you workouts and helps to balance insulin response when you eat carbohydrate dense foods (eg bread, potatoes, pasta)
4) Replace grains with vegetables
-vegetables are a better source of fibre, vitamins and minerals
5) Don’t forget to eat some fat
-make the you eat some good fat from sources such as avocados, raw nuts (not roasted) and seeds, Omega-3 rich fish oil and olive oil.
