September 14, 2014

CrossFit Canmore is excited to announce that we have created an event for fitness freaks! This brand new outdoor event will challenge athletes by taking fitness to a whole new extreme. The event will include a 5km mountain trail run, covering close to 200m in elevation gains, and five quick and simple CrossFit style WODs staged throughout.

This event will be epic, but still accessible to non-CrossFit athletes interested in testing how far they can push themselves. Registration is open for individuals & teams of 2, but there are only 150 start positions available. Bring your buddies, bring your kids and come throw down with us at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

Registration is now closed!

To ensure everyone has the same competition experience, registration will  be capped at 150 spots. Please register early, because when they’re gone… they’re gone! Registration closes Wednesday September 10th.

Event Details:

Race start – 10am.

Pre-Race announcement – 9:45am. WOD’s, movement standards, timing, etc will be covered. We encourage everyone to attend.

Racers will start in heats of 10 with Individual racers going first, followed by the Teams.

Teams (of 2) will race together but can split the work as they choose. Only one person working at a time.
Teams can be mixed or single gender.

We want you to have fun, challenge yourself and for this to be a great experience for all of us! There will not be judges for each athlete just one at each WOD. We will be working on the “honour” code just like you would at your local gym, so please hold yourself to the highest standard when it comes to counting your reps and maintaining range of motion.

Prizing:

Individual & Team prizes will be awarded to RX & Beginners/Scaled categories!

We would like to thank our Event Partners:

Q: Can you tell me about the 2014 CNCPP Events Bear Spray Requirement?
A: For many years, the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park (CNCPP) has worked closely with event organizers to promote Wildsmart strategies aimed at keeping participants as safe as possible & reducing negative human-wildlife interactions during events. One of the most effective strategies at avoiding a negative encounter is carrying bear spray while on trails. As a participant in the Rocky Mountain Crusher, you will be required to carry bear spray while out on course.

  1. There will be no Olympic lifting, but there will be weighted movements of various kinds.

  2. ok cool, our team does not have much experience with the OLY stuff. Just so we have an idea of how to prepare ourselves for this madness what will be the average time it will take to complete each of these workouts?
